Alex Reyes Needs Surgery
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals right-hander Alex Reyes (shoulder) needs surgery to fix a damaged labrum in his right shoulder, according to sources. Reyes experienced renewed soreness in his shoulder when throwing last week and was shut down indefinitely. The 27-year-old started the regular season on the 60-day injured list, and it now looks like he'll miss the entire 2022 season, although we'll have a better timetable on his recovery after he goes under the knife. At this point, Reyes might even be lucky if he's ready to go in time for next season. It's extremely disappointing after he made his first All-Star team last year when he recorded 29 saves, a 3.24 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP and 95 strikeouts in 72 1/3 relief innings for St. Louis. Giovanny Gallegos will continue to operate as the team's closer this season.
