Alex Reyes Hits The Open Market
1 year agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers declined relief pitcher Alex Reyes' (shoulder) $3 million club option for the 2024 season over the weekend, making him a free agent this winter, according to a source. Reyes will receive a $100,000 buyout. The 29-year-old right-hander continues to have shoulder problems and had surgery on his right shoulder in June. He didn't appear in a single game for the Dodgers in 2023 and hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2021, when he was an All-Star with the St. Louis Cardinals. Reyes will likely have to prove his health this offseason before any team takes a chance on the talented but injury-prone hurler. In his five seasons in the majors with the Cardinals, he has a strong 2.86 ERA (3.87 FIP) and 1.34 WHIP with 31 saves, 97 walks and 177 strikeouts in 145 innings over 101 appearances (seven starts).
