Alex Reyes Diagnosed With Frayed Labrum
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Alex Reyes (shoulder) was diagnosed with a frayed labrum in his right shoulder and received a stem-cell injection from Dr. James Andrews. Reyes will not be allowed to throw for "at least" two weeks, so the Cardinals are expecting him to return in late May or early June. It's extremely disappointing news after the former top starting pitching prospect finally stayed healthy for a whole season in 2021 and recorded 29 saves on his way to his first All-Star appearance. He was once again expected to be a big part of the team's closing situation, but now Giovanny Gallegos, Genesis Cabrera and Ryan Helsley will be St. Louis' top options for the ninth inning to begin the year. Fantasy managers should have Gallegos as the top of their list of closing options for the Cardinals.
