Alex Reyes Blows Third Save In August
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals closer Alex Reyes was hit hard in Sunday's blown save versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. Reyes only recorded one-out, before Yoshitomo Tsutsugo took him deep for a walk-off three-run home run. The closer would finish with an ugly line of one hit, three runs, two walks and one strikeout. Reyes was phenomenal in the first half of the season, but he worked to a 5.40 ERA in July and has been lit up in the month of August with a 7.84 ERA and three blown saves. The former top pitching prospect is now 5-7 with a 2.95 ERA to go along with 29 saves in 33 opportunities. Those who roster Reyes would be wise to insure him with Giovanny Gallegos and Genesis Cabrera, with Gallegos being the priority add.
