Alex Ovechkin Grabs His First Point Of The Season
1 year agoWashington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin finally celebrated his first point of 2023-24 on Wednesday, tallying an assist on the team's lone marker in a 6-1 defeat against Ottawa. The Capitals captain combined with Tom Wilson to help John Carlson on the scoreboard late in the first period. Ovechkin himself couldn't score for a third straight contest to start the year, and he didn't even register a single shot on goal for a second consecutive game. It's the first time in his career he's finished without a shot on target in back-to-back games. It's been a tough start for Ovechkin and the Capitals in general, as the team has suffered two heavy defeats while sneaking one shootout victory. The Great Eight will hope to avoid matching his longest goal drought to start a season Saturday in Montreal.
