Alex Ovechkin Ends Longest Goal Drought Of His Career
1 year agoWashington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin finally found his way back among the goals on Thursday against the Blue Jackets, ending the longest goal drought of his career with a 3-2 overtime winner. Ovechkin went 14 games without a goal before breaking the barren spell with a power-play marker on Thursday inside the final minute of overtime. During his drought, he had 57 shots on goal without finding the back of the net. Ovechkin also grabbed a power-play assist in Thursday's contest to reach the 20-point mark in his 30th outing of the season. The second most prolific goal-scorer in NHL history has lit the lamp just six times this season, but Ovechkin's 5.2 shooting percentage has massive room for improvement, as he's been a 12.8 percent shooter over his career.
