Alex Lyon Starting For Red Wings Wednesday
12 months agoDetroit Red Wings goaltender Alex Lyon is the starting netminder for Wednesday's contest versus the visiting New Jersey Devils. It's the second start of the season for the journeyman after he surrendered three third-period goals in a tough-luck 3-2 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs in Sweden last week. Lyon was a big late-season contributor for the Florida Panthers last season when he stabilized the crease with a 2.89 goals-against average and .912 save percentage in 15 games, winning nine of them. He owns a career 3.05 GAA and .902 Sv% across 40 career regular-season NHL appearances. He has another tough matchup on tap against a Devils offense that ranks sixth overall and first in the NHL with a hefty 39% clip on the power play.
