Alex Kirilloff Swats Eighth Homer
3 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder/first baseman Alex Kirilloff clobbered his eighth homer of the season in Saturday's 9-4 win over the Detroit Tigers. Kirilloff's homer was a towering blast, traveling 429 feet at 101.6 MPH. The lefty slugger owns just a 6.3 percent walk rate, though his .262 batting average and .451 slugging percentage point to someone who clearly hasn't been overmatched by major league pitching. Kirilloff ranks in the 80th percentile or better in several Statcast categories, including barrel rate, expected batting average, and expected slugging percentage, suggesting that perhaps he's been a little unlucky to accumulate the numbers that he has.
