Alex Kirilloff Batting Fifth Friday
4 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder/first baseman Alex Kirilloff will get the start in left field and bat fifth against Pirates' right-hander JT Brubaker. Kirilloff got the call up to the big leagues on Friday following the placement of Miguel Sano (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list- though the move likely also has to do with the absences of Max Kepler and Kyle Garlick, as well as the lack of a difference-making lefty bat-besides Luis Arraez- in the Twins' lineup early on. Kirilloff can certainly provide in that department, having batted .317 with a .863 OPS in 279 career minor league games. He might require a bit of an adjustment period to major-league pitching, though he possesses four-category upside once that occurs.
