Minnesota Wild defenseman Alex Goligoski will replace Dmitry Kulikov in the lineup on Wednesday against St. Louis after sitting out the team's playoff opener as a healthy scratch. Kulikov logged 15:50 in the game and had a poor night in a 4-0 loss with a minus-two rating. Goligoski enjoyed a solid regular season with 30 points and an outstanding plus-41 rating in 72 games, but Wild head coach Dave Evason has scratched him quite regularly in recent weeks, which suggests that he hasn't been happy about Goligoski's play. The veteran blue-liner will try to prove his worth again on the third defensive pairing alongside Jon Merrill.

Minnesota Wild defensemen Jonas Brodin (upper body) and Alex Goligoski (COVID-19 protocols) won't play on Saturday against Washington. It's a major blow for the team, as Minnesota's blue line has already been without Jared Spurgeon (lower body). Matt Dumba's minutes have gone through the roof lately and he'll be expected to do even more now. Other rearguards, such as Jon Merrill and Dmitry Kulikov, will likely have to adjust to a heavier workload as well. Minnesota will miss a total of nine players, so things are also bleak in attack.

Minnesota Wild defenseman Alex Goligoski recorded a pair of helpers on Sunday in a 5-4 shootout loss against the Lightning, assisting Marcus Foligno on a power-play goal and combining with Dmitry Kulikov to get Kevin Fiala on the scoreboard. Goligoski also delivered three hits on and picked up two penalty minutes. The veteran blue-liner enjoyed a three-point night earlier in the week against Dallas, and he's having a very productive month overall with nine points in nine appearances. The Wild have just lost Jared Spurgeon to a lower-body injury, so Goligoski will have even more responsibility on the blue line, which will hopefully lead to more good numbers.

Minnesota Wild defenseman Alex Goligoski (upper body) is expected to return to the lineup on Saturday against the Penguins. The veteran blueliner has missed three games. Goligoski was paired with Jared Spurgeon at the start of the season, and he got off to a productive start with three assists, nine shots, five hits and nine blocks in six games. We can expect him to head straight back on the top defensive pairing, meaning Dmitry Kulikov has to drop down in the lineup. The team is also close to getting back winger Mats Zuccarello (COVID protocol). He could make his comeback in Sunday's home game against the Islanders.
