Montreal Canadiens left wing Alex Galchenyuk recorded his second career hat trick in Montreal’s 6-3 win over the New York Islanders on Friday. The Canadiens winger began the night by earning the primary assist on Brendan Gallagher’s opening goal just 1:28 into the first period. He then scored twice in the second period and added his third tally late in the final frame. The 24-year-old has been underwhelming for most of this season, along with the rest of the Canadiens. Friday’s goals were only Galchenyuk’s 13th, 14th and 15th of the season and his first since Jan. 23. With a negative-27 plus/minus and mediocre scoring, the former third overall pick should only be owned in deeper leagues unless a hot streak is established before the end of the season.--Alex McKenzie
