Alexis Diaz Notches 16th Save Of Season Tuesday
1 year agoCincinnati Reds closer Alexis Diaz was back to close things out in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Royals. After getting a night off Monday, Diaz returned to pitch the ninth inning up by one and delivered a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout to end the game. The 26-year-old has been busy for a surprisingly competitive Reds team, converting all of his save opportunities with a 1.65 ERA, 16.13 K/9 rate, and 3.95 BB/9 rate. The walks leave something to be desired, but Diaz has pitched so well that he has been a high-end closing option this season and should continue to be so as long as the Reds play solid baseball.
