Alex DeBrincat Inks Three-Year Contract Extension
5 years agoChicago Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat signed a three-year, $19.2 million contract extension ($6.4 million average annual value) to remain in the Windy City for the next four seasons on Thursday. Previously set to become a restricted free agent in the summer of 2020, the 21-year-old cashes in after a breakout campaign last year - having posted 76 points (41 goals, 35 assists) to go along with 24 power-play points and 220 shots in 82 games. Selected with the 39th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, DeBrincat is proving to be on the best value picks for the Hawks in quite some time. Projected to skate on the team's second line and top power-play unit, the undersized winger will look to take another step forward this season - starting with the Hawks' season opener against the Flyers on Friday.
