Alex Cora Says Matt Barnes Will Be The Closer When Ready
3 years agoOn Wednesday, Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora gave a few key updates on relief pitcher Matt Barnes (back). First, Cora said that Barnes is "getting close to himself." The reliever has been dealing with back stiffness and it has resulted in limited usage for him out of the gate this year, though he's avoided the injured list thus far. Second, Cora said that once Barnes is back to being himself, the team will "use him in the ninth." This is big news from Cora as the team has been going with something of a committee approach for the ninth inning this year. Barnes should be rostered in all fantasy leagues as it sounds as if he'll be closing for the team once again in just a short matter of time.
