Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Alex Colome notched his second consecutive save Thursday against the Astros. Colome entered the game in the ninth with two outs after Danny Coulombe served up a two-run homer and induced a lineout to second base to end the contest. The veteran reliever blew a save on July 26, but has gone a perfect 2-for-2 in save chances since. Colome figures to continue seeing such opportunities but has limited value, given that he pitches for the last-place Twins. He also allows too much hard contact, a problem that has plagued him all season.--Tim Capurso

The Washington Nationals signed free-agent reliever Alexander Colome to a minor-league deal on Friday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training. The Nationals have had plenty of interest in Colome before, including advanced trade talks with the Chicago White Sox at the 2019 trade deadline. The 34-year-old right-hander was an All-Star back in 2016 with the Tampa Bay Rays when he had a 1.91 ERA and 37 saves, but he's no longer in his prime heading into his 11th big-league campaign. In 47 relief innings for the Colorado Rockies in 2022, he posted a career-worst 5.74 ERA (4.54 FIP), 1.68 WHIP, four saves and 14.9 percent strikeout rate. Colome does have 159 career saves, but he's unlikely to pitch in too many high-leverage situations for the Nats if he makes the team out of spring training.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Colorado Rockies right-handed reliever Alex Colome has been placed on the 15-day injured list with right lateral epicondylitis, which is more commonly known as tennis elbow. In his place, Justin Lawrence was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque. Colome owns a 4.68 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, and .292 OBA along with 5.95 K/9 and 3.61 BB/9 through 46 games (42.1 innings) this season. He has tallied seven holds, four saves, and three blown saves along the way.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller

Colorado Rockies relief pitcher Alex Colome (hamstring) was removed from Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres after he felt his hamstring cramp up. He was pitching in the eighth inning of the game and recorded two outs before he was lifted. His final line was 2/3 of an inning, two hits, one walk and two runs (one earned). He will be reevaluated by the team on Wednesday. The 33-year-old has made 35 appearances this year and he's pitched to a 2.94 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP while racking up five holds and four saves.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller

Colorado Rockies pitcher Alex Colome allowed one hit over a scoreless inning to earn the save during Thursday's 4-2 win over the San Francisco Giants. He entered the ninth inning to protect a two-run lead. The 33-year-old tossed a scoreless inning to earn his third save of the season. Colorado's primary closer Daniel Bard was unavailable after pitching in previous back-to-back games. The right-hander hasn't allowed a run over his last 11 1/3 innings and owns a 2.53 ERA across 21 1/3 innings in 2022. Colome is a perfect 3-for-3 in save opportunities, but with the lack of save chances, he is mainly an option in deep-league formats.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
