Alex Colome Picks Up Fourth Straight Save
3 years agoMinnesota Twins relief pitcher Alex Colome shut the door on his former team, the White Sox, in Tuesday's 4-3 victory. Colome needed just 10 pitches to lock down the win, inducing three easy grounders. The veteran reliever got off to a historically bad start to the season but has been excellent in August as the team's post-trade deadline closer, as he has yet to allow a run while recording four straight saves. Colome still allows too much contact- just a 19.6 percent strikeout rate since he was demoted from the closer role on May 1- though his 55.4 percent groundball rate during that span helps make him a trustworthy option for those in need of immediate saves off the waiver wire.
