Alex Colome Notches 11th Save
3 years agoMinnesota Twins relief pitcher Alex Colome locked up his 11th save of the season in Sunday's win over the Rays. Colome allowed a leadoff single, induced a double play, then proceeded to walk a batter and yield an infield single before getting a fly ball to end the game. The righty has had some down performances here and there but has largely excelled in his second stint as the Twins closer. The key to his success has been his cutter, which has yielded a .195 opponent batting average and a 30.7 percent whiff rate. Colome makes for a solid closing option down the stretch for a revitalized Twins team.
