Alex Cobb's Return Pushed Back Again
4 months agoSan Francisco Giants starting pitcher Alex Cobb (hip, finger, shoulder) popped a blister on his right index finger in his last minor-league rehab outing, according to Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle. Rubin further expressed that Cobb's potential return to the major leagues is likely pushed back due to this minor setback. Cobb has missed the entire 2024 season so far due to undergoing offseason hip surgery, and he injured his right shoulder along the way. Through his first 18 1/3 innings of rehab work, the right-hander has held a 3.93 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and a 7:24 BB:K. The 36-year-old might need one more rehab outing before returning. He could be worth a look in deeper leagues when he returns, as he posted a 3.87 ERA and 1.32 WHIP across 151 frames last summer.
