Alex Cobb Gets Rocked in First Start Off the DL
7 years agoIn Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Alex Cobb's first appearance as a member of the team, he did nothing to assuage the worries of committing $57 million to a player in the middle of March. One of the players who had to wait months into the offseason before agreeing to a contract, Cobb was not able to shake off the cobwebs as the Red Sox handed him the loss, along with a line of eight runs (seven earned), ten hits, one walk, no strikeouts, and two home runs in just 3 2/3 innings. After the game, Cobb even admitted that he did not feel ready to face a major league lineup. Cobb will look to get back into midseason form in his next start against a weak Tigers team, but a wait-and-see approach may be the best advice.
