Alex Cobb Gets Quality Start, Loss Against Athletics
7 years agoOrioles starter Alex Cobb earned his second straight quality start on Sunday against the Athletics, despite also being tagged with the loss — his fourth of the season. Cobb had a season-high five strikeouts over six innings, while allowing two runs — one earned — on five hits and one walk. Things might be turning around for Cobb, who after posting a 13.11 ERA with four strikeouts over 11 2/3 innings in April now has a 2.25 ERA with seven strikeouts over 12 innings in May. Owners should probably take Sunday's start with a grain of salt with the Athletics averaging almost 10 strikeouts per game, but he was able to limit the eighth-highest scoring offense in baseball to two runs. Cobb may be a buy-low option at this point, especially with his next start coming against Tampa Bay.
