11 months agoHouston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman was 2-for-4 with a two-run home run during Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins. The 30-year-old has caught fire as of late, specifically in the power department, as he has mashed four homers over his last six games. It is nice to see some signs of life from the two-time All Star as he had a dismal start to the season. He is still slashing an uncharacteristic .229/.287/.395 across 57 games to go along with eight homers, 28 RBI and two stolen bases. The boy-low window on Bregman appears to be closing fast as he continues to round into form.--Raymond Harrison - RotoBaller

7 days agoThe Boston Red Sox placed third baseman Alex Bregman on the paternity list on Wednesday and recalled infielder/outfielder Nick Sogard from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move. Bregman put on a show in Tuesday's win over the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday, going 5-for-5 with two home runs, a double, four RBI and two runs scored, but now he'll miss the series finale in Tampa and potentially the entire weekend series against the Chicago White Sox. The 31-year-old two-time All-Star has so far enjoyed his time in Beantown, as he's slashing .321/.365/.564 with a .929 OPS, four home runs, a league-high seven doubles, a league-high 25 hits, 16 RBI, a stolen base and 10 runs scored in a league-high 78 at-bats. With Bregman out of the lineup on Thursday against the Rays, Romy Gonzalez will fill in at the hot corner and bat fifth against right-hander Zack Littell.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

1 week agoBoston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman had an excellent game before heading for paternity leave in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Rays. Bregman went 5-for-5 with two singles, a double, a pair of solo home runs, and four RBI. The 31-year-old lined a third-inning Ryan Pepiot pitch over the right-field wall and later took Hunter Bigge deep to right-center field in the seventh inning. Bregman has had a stellar start to his Red Sox tenure after signing a three-year, $120 million deal this offseason, slashing .321/.365/.564 with four HR, 16 RBI, and a stolen base in 85 plate appearances. The Red Sox's offense has been erratic overall, but Bregman should have plenty of opportunities to provide fantasy value while hitting third in the lineup.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller

2 weeks agoBoston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman had himself a day on Sunday during their doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals. In Game two, which was on Sunday Night Baseball, Bregman went 4-for-5 with six RBI, two runs scored, and a home run. The home run came in the third inning with two-on and two-out to put the Red Sox comfortably ahead by nine runs. The Red Sox won the game 18-7 and put on a clinic on how to hit the baseball, led by the new acquisition, Bregman, with his team-high six RBI on the evening. Bregman is liking his new environment, slashing .341/.383/.591 through the team's first 10 games. The Red Sox will look to keep it rolling as they start a four-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday.--Nicho Roessler - RotoBaller

3 weeks agoBoston Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman had a big day on Thursday in the 8-4 win over the division-rival Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards, going 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, two doubles, three RBI, two runs scored and two strikeouts. Bregman broke out in this one with his first three extra-base hits in his first year with Boston. The 31-year-old veteran hit his first homer of the year in the first inning off veteran right-hander Charlie Morton and later added two doubles. The two-time All-Star came into Thursday's contest with six hits in his first 27 plate appearances with one walk and six strikeouts. Fantasy managers have to be happy to see him break out for his first big game of 2025, and they'll be hoping he can keep it going this weekend for a series at Fenway Park against the St. Louis Cardinals.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
