Alex Bowman doesn't have the best starting position for this weekend's AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway, but that doesn't mean the No. 48 Chevrolet is lacking in speed. Bowman got on X soon after qualifying was over on Saturday to explain that going out early in qualifying hurt him from putting down a fast lap, but noted that he was confident that he has a good car for Sunday's race. As far as track history goes, Bowman has been stellar at Kansas Speedway, with no result outside of the top 10 in his five Next Gen starts here. Pair that with the fact that the No. 48 Chevrolet has shown great speed at both Las Vegas and Texas this season--which are also low-wear, 1.5-mile tracks similar to Kansas--and Bowman is looking like a very strong fantasy pick on Sunday. At just $7,800 on DraftKings, Bowman has top-five finishing upside with room for Place Differential points at a very palatable DFS salary. He's one of the strongest picks to go with on the slate this weekend at Kansas.

Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman will start 11th for this week's race at Texas Motor Speedway, the Wurth 400. It is the seventh time overall this season where Bowman fell short of earning a top-10 starting position in qualifying. In 15 starts at Texas, Bowman has six top-20 finishes, with two top-5 finishes. In 10 races completed this season, Bowman has six top-10 finishes with an average finish of 16.3, while earning positive Place Differential four times. In practice for this week's race, Bowman ranked fifth in overall lap averages and displayed top-10 speeds in all other categories. The No. 48 Chevrolet driver does not offer a high amount of upside, but his practice speeds have been great and flashed with solid results throughout the season, making him a sneaky tournament play capable of scoring a top-10 at $8,400.

Alex Bowman qualified 18th at Talladega yesterday, which is consistent with his relatively bland performance there as this marks his seventh consecutive starting position outside the top ten after six consecutive top ten starts before that. While qualifying certainly doesn't matter there and he has had laps in every other race at Talladega, he isn't likely to be one of the dominant drivers in the race even with his recent uptick in speed and he is usually better at Daytona. He also qualified slightly too well to be a top contender for DFS teams when considering there are several better drivers who started behind him and are likely to finish ahead of him. All three of his Hendrick Motorsports teammates are likely better options.

In a virtual repeat of last year's Bristol Night Race, Alex Bowman won the pole for Sunday's race at Bristol before Kyle Larson passed him early in Stage 1 and led the rest of the race, with the exception of pit-stop exchanges. The difference is Bowman had an engine failure in Sunday's race. However, Bowman's race was still very strong, as he ran in the top five for nearly the entirety of the first 285 laps and was running third when his engine went sour. He tried to nurse it home but eventually retired from the race after 343 laps. Although Bowman has now had a pretty unlucky season, he still sits 46 points above the playoff cut line and he's shown more speed this year than he has at any point since his injury at Texas in 2022. He's already passed his laps-led total from each of the past two years.
