2 months agoHendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman will start this week's Go Bowling at the Glen at Watkins Glen International from the fourth position. This is the highest starting position of Bowman's Cup career at Watkins Glen and it will also be the first time he will ever start in the Top 5 at the site. In seven previous Cup starts at the site, Bowman has four top-20 finishes with a best finish of 14th, which he scored in three different races. After 27 races so far this year, Bowman has one win from the Chicago Street Course and 13 top-10 finishes, including a finish of fourth at Sonoma. In practice, Bowman ranked 22nd in overall lap averages and as high as 15th in 15 consecutive lap averages. Although Bowman is one of the more talented drivers at road courses historically, Watkins Glen is his weakest road course statistically. With his low upside and recent inconsistency with only one top-10 finish in the last six Cup races this year, it is difficult to recommend Bowman outside of being a contrarian play for tournament lineups.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller
