Alex Bowman Is A Complete DFS Risk For Watkins Glen
6 months agoHendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman will start this week's Go Bowling at the Glen at Watkins Glen International from the fourth position. This is the highest starting position of Bowman's Cup career at Watkins Glen and it will also be the first time he will ever start in the Top 5 at the site. In seven previous Cup starts at the site, Bowman has four top-20 finishes with a best finish of 14th, which he scored in three different races. After 27 races so far this year, Bowman has one win from the Chicago Street Course and 13 top-10 finishes, including a finish of fourth at Sonoma. In practice, Bowman ranked 22nd in overall lap averages and as high as 15th in 15 consecutive lap averages. Although Bowman is one of the more talented drivers at road courses historically, Watkins Glen is his weakest road course statistically. With his low upside and recent inconsistency with only one top-10 finish in the last six Cup races this year, it is difficult to recommend Bowman outside of being a contrarian play for tournament lineups.

Can Alex Bowman Contend At Las Vegas This Weekend?
2 days agoDon't sleep on Alex Bowman this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Statistically, this has been one of the best tracks on the schedule for Bowman since the Next Gen car was introduced, as he has an average finish of 12.4 here over the last five races and an average driver rating of 98.5. Including his win here in Sin City back in 2022, Bowman finished third here in 2023 and ended up finishing fifth in the fall Playoff race last October. Additionally, the Hendrick Motorsports driver has been strong at Kansas Speedway as well, which is the sister track to Las Vegas. Over at Kansas, Bowman has five straight top-10 finishes. This weekend, the No. 48 Chevrolet was among the fastest in practice when it came to long-run lap averages, and Bowman qualified sixth for Sunday's Pennzoil 400. He's a risky tournament/pivot option in DFS contests at $8,000 on DraftKings.

Alex Bowman Leaves Phoenix With His Best Finish At The Site Since 2016
1 week agoAlex Bowman of Hendrick Motorsports ended Sunday's Shriners Children's 500 in the seventh position after an up-and-down day. Bowman began the race from the 32nd position, and after an early pit stop, he made up some ground and placed 17th by the end of the first stage. In the second stage, Bowman got involved in a multi-car accident and obtained some damage, but he could continue. The No. 48 Chevrolet driver would end the second stage in the 16th position, failing to score stage points for the entire day. In the final stage, Bowman shuffled his position up and down, running as high as third by lap 217 or falling back towards the back half of the top 20 during pit stops. Bowman eventually would take option tires during the final stage, allowing him to pass other cars and make it to the top 10. After the race's final restart, Bowman ended the race inside the top 10 with a finish of seventh, his highest at Phoenix since 2016.

Alex Bowman A Strong Place-Differential Play At Phoenix
1 week agoAlex Bowman will roll off the starting grid from 32nd place for Sunday's Shriners Children's 500 at Phoenix Raceway, but he should place much better than that when it's all said and done. Bowman, like his teammate Kyle Larson, clipped the apron in Turn 1 during his qualifying lap and ruined his time. And while Bowman may not be the strongest driver at Phoenix, he now becomes a very strong play in DFS on Sunday due to his place-differential upside (plus the fact that he is priced at just $7,800 on DraftKings). Over the last four races at this track, Bowman has ended up between ninth and 20th each time. Even if he's only able to pull off a 20th-place finish here on Sunday, that will equal 35 fantasy points for the Hendrick Motorsports driver thanks to place differential. Bowman is a strong core driver to build around in DFS on Sunday, especially in cash games.

Alex Bowman Recovers From COTA Penalty To Finish Ninth
2 weeks agoAlex Bowman consistently ran between ninth and 12th in the first half of Sunday's race at Austin but was penalized on Lap 51 for cutting the course at Turn 5. After his pit stop, he fell to 34th but he steadily worked his way through the field during Stage 3 before eventually finishing ninth, exactly where he was running at his peak earlier in the race. Bowman has been quite consistent at Circuit of the Americas, as he has now finished in the top 10 there in all five of his starts, even though he has seldom led. He slightly improved from ninth to seventh in points and he remains ahead of some heavy hitters like Joey Logano, Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, and Ross Chastain.
