Alejandro Kirk Makes First 2021 Start
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk is making his first start of the 2021 season on Sunday against pitcher Domingo German and the New York Yankees. The rookie backstop is known for having an advanced bat — both in terms of power and with his ability to make above-average contact. In his brief nine-game MLB career, Kirk has shown the ability to handle both fastballs and curveballs well — and those are German's two top offerings. This could end up being a favorable matchup for the Jays catcher. Kirk has a career .315 batting average and .918 OPS in the minor leagues. He's also coming off a strong spring that saw him produce a .292 batting average and .917 OPS in 11 games.
