Alec Mills Hurt By Bad Defense In Loss
3 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Alec Mills only lasted four innings in Monday's loss versus the St. Louis Cardinals. Mills fell victim to back-to-back errors by Javier Baez in the bottom of the fourth inning and finished with a line of five hits, five runs (one earned), two walks and struck out six on the evening. Mills has been racking up strikeouts, but has yet to pick up a quality start in seven chances this season. Mills is also a candidate to return to the bullpen when Jake Arrieta (hamstring) eventually returns from the 10-day injured list. Mills is now 4-2 with a 4.64 ERA. If Arrieta doesn't return for his next start in the rotation, Mills will be lined up to face the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday.
