Aldrich Potgieter A Risky Play At TPC Sawgrass
2 hours agoAldrich Potgieter struggled in the first two rounds of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, carding a 79-73 and missing the cut by four strokes. He now turns his attention to The PLAYERS Championship for the first time in his PGA Tour career. To succeed at TPC Sawgrass, players need to excel from tee to green, with particular emphasis on accuracy off the tee and on approach shots. Potgieter has been one of the best off the tee this season, gaining 1.153 strokes per round -- the second-best on Tour. However, he ranks 99th in strokes gained from tee to green (0.062 per round), 147th in driving accuracy, 173rd in strokes gained on approach (minus-0.848 per round), and is in just the 25th percentile over the last 12 months in proximity from 100-150 yards -- a range that accounted for 32.3% of all approach shots at Sawgrass last year. The 20-year-old will have some better spots where he can be played, but even at his price tag of $5,500 on DraftKings, he is better left on the bench this week for fantasy managers.
