AJ Smith-Shawver Recalled, Will Start Tuesday Night In Colorado
AJ Smith-Shawver was recalled from Triple-A and will start Tuesday's game against the Rockies. The righty made three starts for the team earlier this season, posting a 4.61 ERA (3.56 xFIP), a 1.98 WHIP, and a 13.8 K-BB% across 13 2/3 innings pitched. The former seventh-round pick debuted back in 2023, but was just 20 years old at the time. The now-22-year-old will make his next attempt to stick in the Braves' rotation and although the venue (Coors Field) doesn't do him any favors, the Rockies are 4-24 with one of the worst team batting averages in baseball and have struck out the most in the majors over the first month of the season. The Braves are heavy favorites in this game, so Smith-Shawver could be a viable DFS play who could manage to pick up a win in this one. Ian Anderson, who the Braves recently claimed off waivers, was designated for assignment to make room.
