AJ Allmendinger ‘Close To Where He Needs To Be’ for Indy Road Course
1 year agoAJ Allmendinger, the inaugural winner of the Cup Series race at the Indy Road Course two years ago, is looking for his third straight top-10 finish at the track this weekend. He followed up his win in 2021 with a 7th-place finish in last year's race. This time around, Allmendinger will have some work to do if he wants to continue his streak, though, as the No. 16 Chevrolet will start from 26th-place when the Verizon 200 at The Brickyard goes green on Sunday afternoon. That makes this road course ace a great DFS play, though, due to the place differential potential. During practice on Saturday, Allmendinger said he was mostly happy with his car and that it's "close to where it needs to be." AJ has single-digit finishes in five of the last seven road course races.
