Now that his NASCAR Cup Series career seems to be coming to a close, it seems that Corey LaJoie may not be putting as much effort in as he was before Spire Motorsports released him. In last week's Richmond race, Carson Hocevar ranked 10th in speed while LaJoie was 35th-fastest. Although fans seem to disagree, this is probably greater than their difference in talent and it possibly suggests LaJoie may be beginning to throw in the towel. While his performance was solid in 2021-2023, it certainly hasn't been this year so expectations should remain low for the rest of the season, particularly at Michigan where he starts 31st and ranked 32nd-fastest in practice. LaJoie had his only top-20 finishes at Michigan in the last two years including a 15th last year, but since he seems to be performing much worse this year, it's unlikely he'll match that feat.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
