6 years agoTexas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre (hamstring) will return to the designated hitter spot in the lineup on Tuesday. Beltre had played third base Sunday, with the DH spot unavailable, but in order to keep him healthy the Rangers need him to play as the DH as often as possible. Injuries certainly have not helped Beltre this season, but his performance has not just continued to decline, it has dropped off a cliff. In a similar number of plate appearances to last season, Beltre has 10 less home runs and has a batting average .037 points lower. That decrease in production, combined with the injury, has put Beltre below fantasy relevance in all but the deepest of leagues.--Ben Rolfe
