Adolis Garcia Walks It Off On Sunday
1 year agoTexas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia went 1-for-5 with a solo, walk-off home run and four strikeouts in a 6-5 win over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday. The Rangers, who recently lost their hold on first place in the American League West, were looking to avoid getting swept by the Twins before Garcia stepped up to the dish in the bottom of the ninth in a 5-5 ball game. The 30-year-old was rocking a golden sombrero (0-for-4 with four strikeouts) before he took Josh Winder deep with his 34th home run of the season to end the ball game. Garcia has been slumping over the last month, and the last 15 games in particular. Across his last 61 at-bats, he's batting just .164 with a .592 OPS but he does have four home runs over that span. He's putting together a banner season, even with the recent slide, however. After Sunday's contest, he's slashing .247/.326/.499 with a career-high 34 home runs, 100 RBI, and eight stolen bases over 503 at-bats. He's just one RBI shy of tying his career mark but the eight stolen bases look a bit light, considering he swiped 25 bags last season.
