6 years agoTampa Bay Rays shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria (hamstring) has begun to take swings. Taking swings may be a small step, but it is definitely a step forward in his rehab. The truth is his greatest asset is his defense, so while taking swings is exciting, how he fares in fielding practice might be a better benchmark. With a hamstring issue, the biggest concern for his defense will be how it might affect his range. Hechavarria is not much of a fantasy option right now, and shortstop prospect Willy Adames looms as a threat in the long term.--Jamie Mellor
