Addison Russell Starting, Kris Bryant Leading Off For Cubs
6 years agoChicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell is in the starting lineup Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Wrigley Field. Russell and utility man extraordinaire Ben Zobrist — who will start at second base Monday — will have to share the load left behind by the injured Javier Baez (elbow). In a surprising move, third baseman Kris Bryant will bat leadoff for the Cubs. Bryant has been moved around a lot in the lineup as of late, but his switch to the leadoff spot speaks to his .911 OPS at home this season. Along with Bryant and Russell, Ian Happ will start at center field, and Chris Gimenez will catch for Tyler Chatwood. Bryant is a solid play today versus Kenta Maeda, who is coming off two sub-par starts.
