Adam Wainwright To Throw To Live Hitters Friday
2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright (groin) is set to throw to live hitters on Friday, getting one step closer to making a return, according to Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The veteran has been on the shelf since the season started after straining his groin in the weight room. Wainwright will still need to complete a rehab assignment but is on track to join the club this month. Even at 41 years old, he still knows how to pitch and produced a 3.71 ERA with 143 strikeouts, 1.28 WHIP, and 11 victories over 191 2/3 innings a year ago. Fantasy managers can't expect high punchout numbers, but the abilities are still there for Wainwright to post above-average ratios while providing solid wins and volume.
