Adam Wainwright Can't Finish the Fourth Inning in His 2018 Debut
7 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Adam Wainwright lasted just 3 2/3 innings on Thursday, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks in his 2018 season debut. Wainwright was coming off the disabled list after recovering from a hamstring injury. He knocked electric rookie Jack Flaherty back to the minors, but with the Cardinals set on competing for the NL Central title this season, Wainwright's leash will likely be much shorter than it has been in previous years. His days as a fantasy ace are long over, and his days as anything but an occasional streamer could be gone as well. He only needs to be owned in deeper NL-only leagues at this point.
