4 months agoNew York Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech (jaw) will sit out 4-6 weeks of action after getting hurt in Friday's 4-3 loss to Buffalo. Pelech reportedly injured his jaw when he took a puck to the face. The 30-year-old has averaged over 20 minutes of ice time per game this season, contributing four assists in 11 games while registering 23 shots, 12 blocks, and 17 hits. With Mike Reilly (upper body) and Alexander Romanov (upper body) also battling injuries, the Islanders could be forced to make multiple changes in defense for Sunday's clash with the Rangers. Samuel Bolduc and Grant Hutton have been summoned from the minors to shore up defensive depth.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

1 year agoNew York Islanders defensemen Ryan Pulock (lower body) and Adam Pelech (head) are both listed as game-time decisions for the team's return to action Monday versus the Toronto Maple Leafs. Pulock has missed the past 24 games due to a lower-body injury suffered in a Dec. 7 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. He returned to practice on Sunday and took part in Monday's morning skate as well. Pelech has missed just one game after taking an elbow to the head from Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher on Jan. 25. Gallagher was suspended five games for the incident. "I feel good. I took it easy and rest up over the [All-Star] break," Pelech said. The Islanders sit fourth in the Metropolitan Division with a 20-17-12 record, but their minus-23 goal differential is the fourth-worst mark in the Eastern Conference.--Brenton Kemp

1 year agoNew York Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech (upper body) has come off Injured Reserve and is set to return to the lineup Tuesday versus Vancouver. Pelech has missed 20 games with an upper-body injury. The 29-year-old has contributed three assists in 16 games this season, with 16 shots on goal and 28 blocks. He's not a great fantasy piece, but Pelech's return will be a boost for the Islanders blue line, which lost Ryan Pulock (lower body) a month ago and has also been without Robert Bortuzzo (lower body) in recent games. Pelech will skate with Scott Mayfield on the second defensive pairing.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

1 year agoNew York Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech (lower body) could be back in action Monday versus Edmonton, with the team regarding him as a game-time decision for the match. Pelec has missed three of the last four games. If he's ready to return, Pelec will likely push Samuel Bolduc out of the lineup. However, fantasy managers shouldn't expect a lot from him, as Pelech has no goals in 10 appearances this season and only has one assist to show for his offensive efforts.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

1 year agoNew York Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech (lower body) will be absent Saturday against Carolina. He exited Thursday's battle with the Capitals due to a lower-body injury and will be forced to sit out his first game of the season. Pelech has been skating on the second defensive pairing, recording one assist in nine games with 10 shots, 20 blocks, 12 hits, and a plus-two rating. Samuel Bolduc will enter the lineup in his absence.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
