Adam Ottavino Records First Save
2 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Adam Ottavino was asked to take the mound in the ninth inning during Wednesday's game against the San Diego Padres. Normally, David Robertson is the closer in New York, but that was not the case on Wednesday. Robertson pitched in part of the seventh inning and threw a scoreless frame in the eighth. After that, Ottavino was tasked with closing down the game. The assumption is that Robertson will remain the primary closer with Ottavino getting occasional save chances. Ottavino did a fine job on Wednesday, but he won't see enough action to warrant rostering.
