Adam Ottavino Picks Up First Save Of August
1 year agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Adam Ottavino closed out Sunday's 7-6 victory over the Atlanta Braves, picking up his seventh save in the process. Ottavino didn't allow a baserunner and didn't strike out a batter in his inning of work. This was Ottavino's first save since July 1, as the Mets had relied on David Robertson for the majority of their save opportunities until he was traded to the Miami Marlins. Since then, the Mets have gone with a committee approach with Brooks Raley taking the lefty-heavy lineups. Ottavino hasn't had many chances, but one would assume the Mets would use him against righty-heavy matchups meaning he should get a few save chances down the stretch. He can be rostered in deeper formats if saves are needed.
