Adam Oller Shuts Down Yankees Over Eight Innings
2 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Adam Oller stifled the Yankees offense on Saturday by tossing eight-shutout frames in his team's 3-2 extra-inning win. He allowed just one hit on the night when Oswaldo Cabrera doubled to lead off the sixth inning as he struck out three and walked one in the 88-pitch effort. It was by far the best performance of the season for the 27-year-old who was yet to work a full seven innings all year, let alone eight-scoreless to one of the best offenses in baseball. Although Oller has now strung together three quality starts in a row, he still holds a robust 5.66 ERA and 1.52 WHIP with 40 K through 68 1/3 IP. He can be left on waiver wires for his next start versus Baltimore next weekend, but he could be a player worth keeping an eye on down the stretch run.
