Adam Mazur Sent To The Marlins
4 months agoThe Miami Marlins acquired right-handed pitching prospect Adam Mazur from the San Diego Padres on Tuesday in part of the package that sent left-handed closer Tanner Scott to the Friars. In addition to Mazur, the Fish landed pitcher Robby Snelling, infielder Graham Pauley and second baseman Jay Beshears. Mazur checked in as SD's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and made his first eight major-league starts this year before the trade. The former second-round pick in 2022 out of Iowa has struggled in his first taste of the big leagues, going 1-3 with a 7.49 ERA (6.22 FIP) and 1.81 WHIP with a 22:21 K:BB in 33 2/3 innings. The 23-year-old also got hit around in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League before his call-up. It remains to be seen if the Marlins will continue letting him face big-league pitchers the rest of this year, but Mazur could certainly benefit from some more development on the farm.
