Adam Eaton Placed On DL, Nationals Call Up Moises Sierra
7 years agoUpdating a previous report, Washington Nationals outfielder Adam Eaton (ankle) was officially placed on the 10-day disabled list on Wednesday, and the Nationals have called up Moises Sierra to take his place. Catcher Miguel Montero was designated for assignment to make room on the roster for Sierra. The 29-year-old Sierra hasn't played in the majors since 2014 and has spent time with both the Blue Jays and White Sox. The decision to call him up was based on his nice spring showing and the fact that he's a righty. He won't start much, as Brian Goodwin will be Eaton's on-field replacement. Eaton is dealing with a bone bruise, which is ominous given that it's an injury on the same leg that kept him out of action for most of 2018. This kind of injury can keep a player out for months and luckily the Nationals are stacked enough that Eaton's absence won't affect them. Eaton owners, however, are up the creek. Eaton might have some fantasy trade value since he's a run-scoring machine when he's healthy. Unfortunately, he hasn't been healthy for any extended period of time.
