6 years agoKansas City Royals rookie middle infielder Adalberto Mondesi is now slated to start at shortstop one to two times a week after previously being disregarded for such a thing. Mondesi is one of KC's top prospects, as his power/speed combo at a middle infield position is ultra desirable, but on Monday manager Ned Yost said that he wouldn't displace veteran and offensive black hole Alcides Escobar. On Tuesday, Yost changed his tune and said Mondesi will see weekly starts while Escobar provides zero offense at a variety of other positions like center field and third base. With the team entering full rebuild mode, expect Mondesi to continue to push for more at-bats, assuming he can hit major league pitching better than he has in the past.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
