6 years agoKansas City Royals shortstop Adalberto Mondesi drilled his fifth triple of the season on Monday, extending his league lead in the category. Mondesi's two-run triple in the third was the catalyst for getting the Royals on the board, and it gave him a two-triple lead on the his competition, including teammate Whit Merrifield. Mondesi appears to have held onto the lessons he learned last year, and he's well on his way to putting up the kind of season people predicted for him. He already has three home runs, eight stolen bases and he's kept his strikeout rate at a tenable 27 percent.
