Aaron Rodgers Playing Through Avulsion Fracture
2 years agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (thumb) has been playing through an avulsion fracture in his right thumb, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. The veteran initially injured himself in Week 5 but has yet to miss a game in 2022. An avulsion fracture occurs when the ligament rips "away from the attachment, taking some bone with it." The resulting joint instability can make it difficult to grip and throw a football. Such an ailment almost always requires surgery, which Rodgers intends to put off until the offseason. For now, he'll remain on the field, playing through pain and trying to get the 4-7 Packers back in playoff contention. In the meantime, he'll continue to rank as a high-end QB2 in fantasy football.
