Aaron Rodgers Could Be Placed On IR Or Benched
53 seconds agoThe Athletic's Dianna Russini reports that New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has lost confidence in quarterback Aaron Rodgers' ability to lead the team to their first playoff berth in 14 years, according to sources. No decisions have been made yet, but it's increasingly likely that Rodgers, who isn't 100% healthy, could be placed on Injured Reserve or benched over the next few weeks. Some around the NFL wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers is cut mid-season. The four-time MVP's relationship with Johnson has been strained for months, and sources with the team and around the league think Rodgers wants to play in 2025, just not for the Jets. The 40-year-old tore his Achilles in Week 1 of 2023, and while he hasn't been terrible in 2024, he hasn't been very good, either, throwing for 2,442 yards, 17 TDs and seven interceptions in 11 starts. It appears Rodgers' tenure with the Jets will come to an end soon.
