Aaron Nola Takes Off In Atlanta Thursday
7 years agoSpring training has ended and the season is set to begin Thursday for the Philadelphia Phillies as they play in Atlanta against the Braves. Starting the game will be Aaron Nola, Philadelphia’s new ace. The 24-year-old won 12 games last season, posted a 3.54 ERA, pitched 168 innings and struck out 184 batters, all career bests. This year, it didn’t take long for the club to announce him as the Opening Day starter, as manager Gabe Kapler made the announcement in February. Nola made five starts this spring, going 2-1 with a 3.50 ERA, striking out 18 batters in 18 innings.
