Aaron Nola Strikes Out 10 For Second Straight Game
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola blanked the Mets on Thursday, pitching seven scoreless innings and allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out 10. This was the second straight 10-strikeout effort for Nola following his eight-inning gem against the Marlins on June 21. Hector Neris blew the team's 1-0 lead in the ninth, preventing Nola from obtaining his seventh win. Nola is 6-2 on the year with a 4.22 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. His season-long numbers still don't look great, but now that he's coming off two of his best starts of the season, there's hope that he could be turning a corner and returning to the ace-form he showed in 2018.
