Aaron Nola Receives Qualifying Offer
1 year agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitcher Aaron Nola has been issued a qualifying offer from the club ahead of his potential free agency this winter. Should Nola accept the offer, he will play the 2024 season under a one-year, $20.325 million contract after playing out a four-year $45 million contract that bought out his remaining arbitration years. The right-hander has been a steady force atop the Phillies' rotation since the 2017 season but did have a shaky 2023 season that included a 4.46 ERA across 32 starts. Nola also tossed a superior 2.35 ERA across four starts and 23 innings in the 2023 postseason before the Phillies bowed out to the D-backs in the NLCS. Nola is likely to decline the qualifying offer while searching for a multi-year deal on the open market.
