Aaron Nola Collects Fifth Consecutive Quality Start
4 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola was solid again on Thursday, throwing six innings of one-run ball and earning the win in a 5-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Nola allowed four hits and two walks while punching out nine. His knuckle-curve was especially impressive in this one, generating 10 whiffs on 29 pitches. The 31-year-old hasn't been dominant lately, but he has done enough to give his team a good chance to win. While he is prone to the occasional blow-up, his overall numbers remain borderline elite. He has an 11-4 record with a 3.38 ERA,1.03 WHIP, and 116 K in 119 ⅔ IP, giving fantasy managers exactly what they would hope for from Nola.
