Aaron Loup Gaining Fantasy Relevance
3 years agoThe New York Mets relief pitcher Aaron Loup came up big on Saturday for the Mets once again. With the game tied 1-1 in the seventh inning with two outs and runners on first and third, Loup struck out Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger to preserve the tie. Although the Mets would go on to lose 2-1 in ten innings, Loup continues to get huge outs for the team and remains one of their best bullpen arms. He has allowed only one run since May 22, posting a 0.34 ERA, a 0.79 WHIP, and striking out 30 batters over that time (in 26 2/3 innings pitched). On the season, Loup owns a 1.18 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 43 strikeouts with 13 holds over 38 IP. Though Loup won't be in the mix for saves in Flushing, he should be on the radar of fantasy managers who play in leagues that reward holds. He can certainly help with ratios and strikeouts while accumulating holds through the rest of the 2021 season.
